Africa-Press – Cape verde. The sports association Porto Novo Basket is celebrating its 22nd anniversary with various activities. A basketball “meeting”, the second edition of the institutions’ tournament and the traditional street basketball festival are among the main initiatives.
The celebrations have already started with a campaign to mobilize members and continue, on the 27th of January, with the basketball “meeting”, an event that will have as its highlight the game between the men’s sub-18 and sub-23 levels.
Another highlight of the program is the second edition of the tournament for institutions and professional classes in the municipality of Porto Novo, which takes place in February. It also includes the holding of the traditional “street Basket” festival and a game involving the women’s teams from Porto Novo Basket and Sanjoanenses (Ribeira das Patas).
This club has a basketball initiation school, which receives, on the 27th of January, the visit of the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister for Youth and Sports, Carlos Monteiro, to learn about this training project, which already has more than 15 years.
