Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Council of São Miguel opened Tuesday a 1.9 kilometer (km) road that aims to improve people’s quality of life and make them take up residence in the locality in Palha Carga.
The inauguration of the asphalted road Achada Monte a Palha Carga, financed within the scope of the Tourism Fund, in the amount of around 27 million escudos, which is part of the solemnities of the Feast of the city and of the patron saint, Nossa Senhora do Socorro, celebrated on 15 August, it was co-chaired by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, and by the mayor, Herménio Fernandes.
“This investment was made thinking about valuing the territory, but, above all, to improve the quality of life of residents, to attract more visitors, to create conditions so that we can have more investments in local commerce and rural tourism, and also improve activities linked to agriculture and livestock”, said the mayor of São Miguel to the press.
Herménio Fernandes also highlighted the impact of this investment on family income and the fight against poverty, which, he admitted, still affects a good part of the towns in that municipality in Santiago.
