Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Fishmongers Association of Mindelo (APM) presents on the 13th the project “Amdjer d ́txeu Luta” which aims to improve the situation of its members through “inclusive, sustainable and accessible fishing”.
According to information advanced to Inforpress by the vice president of APM, Eloísa Mota, the project called “Promoting a more inclusive and sustainable integral fishing chain that promotes access to the rights of women and young people on the coast of São Vicente – Amdjer d’txeu Luta ” aims to circumvent many of the difficulties encountered in terms of materials, training and environmental awareness itself.
In this sense, according to the same source, they decided to roll up their sleeves and presented the project, which is now being implemented in partnership with the Spanish non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Coopera, and Development and Peace.
“It is intended to improve the value chain of artisanal fish products with approaches to gender equality, the exercise of rights and environmental sustainability, from the extraction of the fishery product to its cooperative commercialization”, he explained to APM in a note.
At the same time, according to the same source, it is expected that the population linked to the project will increase its empowerment and ability to influence its social, political and economic environment.
