Africa-Press – Cape verde. Calheta, São Miguel, Jul 5 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister assured Tuesday that he maintains “complete confidence” in the Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, after the PAICV asked for his resignation, for agreeing with the alleged “scandal” “of “harmful management of tourism and environmental funds”.
Speaking to journalists after the inauguration ceremony of the asphalted road Achada Monte a Palha Carga, in the municipality of São Miguel (Santiago Island), financed under the Tourism Fund, in the amount of around 27 million escudos, Ulisses Correia e Silva guaranteed that the vice prime minister will not resign because of the will of the PAICV.
For the head of government, the request of the largest opposition party to dismiss Olavo Correia is due to “lack of arguments, lack of political facts that interest Cape Verdean and lack of alternative”.
“[The Minister of Finance] has been doing an excellent job, as well as demonstrating with results what is the good application of the Funds for the Environment and Tourism. Before [environment and tourism] funds were not applied like this, and today we have a very big change”, he reinforced, devaluing the PAICV’s attacks in relation to the alleged “scandal” of “harmful management of tourism and environment funds”.
