Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Council of São Filipe has no interest in chairing the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava, said Mayor Nuías Silva, in reaction to accusations from the chairman of the MPD’s Regional Political Commission.
The acting president of the Association of the Municipalities of Fogo and Brava, in a press conference, said that as the mandate has already expired, it cannot leave a vacancy in the association without the election of a new president, according to the statute.
“It is pure untruth and demonstrates that Filipe Santos is not in the know and works as a puppet for other entities that give him wrong information without him having the sense to be able to confirm this information”, declared Nuías Silva, noting that the association was created in 1999 and since then there has been no effective revision of the statutes.
According to him, there was an attempt in 2019, but the process was not completed because the decision of the Intermunicipal Assembly must be preceded by the ratification of the municipal assemblies of the associates, adding that the change was made to allow the effective entry of the municipality of Santa Catarina as member in its own right and be able to enjoy its rights on an equal footing with other municipalities.
