Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Palmeira team was crowned this Saturday, 8, for the first time, Cape Verde champion in senior men’s football, by beating Académica do Mindelo on penalties by 7-6.

During regulation time and extra time the score was 1-1, in the final played at Estádio Dau d’Segunda, on the island of Maio.

The goals were scored by Aí, for Académica, and by Latche (Palmeira), both in the second half of the match.

The title was decided in extra time, with penalties favoring the team from Ilha do Sal, by 7-6.

First national title in club history

Palmeira, founded in 1982, thus achieves its first national title, after two consecutive finals, takes the trophy to the island of Sal, 30 years later, since the last achievement took place in 1993, with Académica do Aeroporto.
