Africa-Press – Cape verde. The councillor of the Municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo since 2016, Carlos Rodrigues, remains firm in his candidacy for mayor in the 2024 municipal elections on the list of the Movement for Democracy (MpD).
After the current president Alberto Nunes expressed, last week, his availability, Carlos Rodrigues expressed today, in a statement to Inforpress, his availability to run for the presidency of the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
“I am waiting for guidelines of the national directorate of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) on the choice of candidate”, said Carlos Rodrigues, arguing that the choice should go through either an internal election or a poll.
For him, the best model would be the internal election taking into account that it has no cost and the militants know well the candidates and the reality of the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo and, in the words of Carlos Rodrigues, they will certainly make the best choice, noting that the realisation of a poll has a great cost and other things can happen that can influence the choice.
