Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of State and National Defense, Janine Lélis, today warned Cape Verdean society that GBV is not fought only through repression and asked for everyone’s involvement in this fight.
This consideration was made today at the opening session of the “Trainers Course on Gender Equality and Equity and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)”, for military and civilian members of the Armed Forces, an initiative of the Ministry of National Defense in partnership with the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG).
On the occasion, the minister stated that GBV is, “without a doubt”, one of the greatest attacks on women’s dignity, hence she stressed the importance of continuing the fight, which “should not be isolated”.
“We all have to fight gender-based violence and we must be aware that it is not fought only through repression”, she warned, pointing out that it is necessary to continue to invest in training, in education from an early age so that love, friendship and respect are valued more.
