Minister of Culture argues that arts education cannot remain just a private school offering

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Culture and Creative Industry advocated a curriculum review to include arts education as something formal, so that the teaching of the arts cannot remain just a private school offering.

Abraão Vicente made these remarks to the press on the sidelines of the signing of an agreement between Cesária Évora de Arts Academy and the Cesaltina Ramos High School on the pilot project for teaching music to 9th grade students at technical school.

“We are first developing the curriculum review, which is underway, for the introduction of arts education as something of formal education, because the teaching of the arts can no longer remain just a school private offering,” he said.

This agreement aims, according to the Minister, to consolidate the vision of the Ministry of Culture and the Government, in bringing the teaching of the arts closer in schools, in this case a “very special” school with vocation to technical education.
