Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Family and Social Inclusion said today that the free movement of citizens in the Lusophone space cannot be rhetoric or discourse but must be materialised by all member states.
Fernando Elísio Freire made these remarks while chairing the opening ceremony of the interregional course on Building Trade Union Capacities to Actively Participate in and Influence United Nations Sustainable Development Processes in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
In his speech, he emphasised that all institutions have responsibilities, both national and international, both public and private, to make their substantial contribution to building a fairer, more egalitarian, inclusive, sustainable and freer society, and argued that the movement of citizens in the Lusophone area must reflect the reality of the mobility agreement.
“We want the citizens of the CPLP countries to come together and produce, to speak, to play, to share, to be together, to help us build this space. Because a space that is only for politicians, that is only for speeches, that is only for suits and ties, will never be a space for citizens. And this space has to be materialized”, he declared.
