Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Councillor for the Environment and Animal Policy, José Carlos da Luz, urged the population of Mindelo to make better use of the municipal slaughterhouse, which has “all conditions” for cattle slaughter and free of charge.
According to the same source admitted to Inforpress, “perhaps most of the population does not know the existence and conditions that exist” in the City Hall of São Vicente slaughterhouse, located in the Ribeira de Craquinha, near the housing complex of Portelinha, and inaugurated 11 years ago.
“We and the City Hall’s communication services have made some awareness to get people’s attention and what are the advantages of making a slaughter, whether it be pigs, cattle and goats in the space that has all the conditions,” he said, referring to the issue of hygiene, but also cold store.
The Councillor reiterated the fact that “nothing is paid for the service” and only obliges to take the supervision license in the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to allow the consultation of the veterinarian, before the slaughter of the animal, and certification of the meat taken later to the butchers.
