Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police in São Vicente has mobilised 212 officers and 13 vehicles from the regional command and will also have ten more elements and a vehicle from the Santo Antão command, aiming at Operation Baía das Gatas.
The numbers were presented at a press conference today in Mindelo by the command’s spokesman, Elvis Leite, for whom the mission of the staff, 222 in general, and the 14 vehicles, aims essentially to work in a preventive way, not only on the beach where the festival will take place, but also throughout the locality, the access road and the city of Mindelo itself.
The person in charge said he was aware of the possibility of the event entailing “great disorder”, so the corporation’s intention is to give “special focus” to the public order aspect.
In this sense, according to the same source, mobile and mapped patrols will be carried out to prevent “petty theft” in vehicle parking areas, in tent and barracks areas and in areas with a larger number of people.
