Students from the secondary school in Várzea, Cidade da Praia, will be distributed, in the new academic year (2023-24), by the secondary school Cesaltina Ramos and the basic school of Terra Branca until the completion, scheduled for December, of the new building located in the area of Tahiti, close to the National Library and the Amílcar Cabral Memorial.

The information was released today, Thursday, by the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz who, in statements to the press, announced that the Ministry of Education will assign school passes to all 1,200 students to guarantee their travel to the referred schools.

The minister also advanced that, from September to December, students in the 7th and 8th years of schooling will attend classes in the Mandatory Basic Education (EBO) schools in Terra Branca, while students from the 9th to 12th years will attend classes in secondary school Cesaltina Ramos, also known as Technical School of Achada Santo António.

Meeting with parents for clarification

Amadeu Cruz added that next Saturday, August 26, the Ministry of Education will hold a meeting with parents and guardians to explain the entire solution regarding the construction of the new Liceu da Várzea, which is being built in the Tahiti area. , close to the Amílcar Cabral Memorial and the National Library, occupying an area of ​​4,293 square meters.

The aforementioned secondary school will have three floors, 15 classrooms, an amphitheater with 180 seats, kitchen, canteen, administrative wing, library and interior courtyard, among others.

The investment is 580 million escudos financed by the governments of Cape Verde and the United States of America, which acquired the land where the former Liceu da Várzea is located and surrounding areas for the construction of its new embassy and other accommodation.
