Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean families will spend an average of 6,000 escudos on the purchase of school materials and uniforms for the 2023/2024 school year, which is planned to start in Septembe
The calculations were made by the families interviewed by Inforpress at a time when everyone is doing the maths to find out how to buy the school materials defined by the schools as “compulsory”, as well as uniforms and tracksuits for physical education.
“We need to do the calculation. Life is difficult, food is very expensive, but we have to prepare our children to start the school year without any problems”, Magda Lopes told Inforpress.
According to Magda Lopes, even with the government’s support for compulsory education, which in her opinion relieves families, the bills in her case for two children are around 10,000 escudos, including the purchase of uniforms, backpacks, notebooks and books.
