Africa-Press – Cape verde. The CV Interilhas, the company that operates the internal maritime transport service for passengers and cargo, announced today the suspension of connections between the islands of Santiago and Maio planned for this Friday, due to bad conditions.
In a statement, the company said the decision was due to the influence of a tropical wave, travelling in a west-north-west direction, likely to evolve into a tropical depression that is affecting the whole of Cabo Verde, with a special impact on the maritime area through the intensification of the wind and consequent worsening of the sea state
For this reason, he added, maritime operations in the Maio Island region, particularly journeys to Santiago / Maio / Santiago, have been suspended for safety reasons.
“We are monitoring the evolution of sea conditions with the competent authorities. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority, so we thank all our customers for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience caused,” the statement concluded.
