Africa-Press – Cape verde. The chess player Lian Fonseca was crowned, this Sunday, September 3rd, twice São Nicolau chess champion, during the sixth Absolute Individual Regional Championship and should represent the island in the preliminary phase of the National Championship scheduled for October.
Lian Fonseca was satisfied with the revalidation of the title and now wants to represent São Nicolau “in the best way”, in the chess national championship.
“This year was an even more complicated championship than last year, so I consider its competitive level positive, and now it is working to represent São Nicolau in the best way in the preliminary phase of the national championship”, he underlined.
The competition podium was completed with Marlon Silva, second, and Davilhinilson Pina, third.
The sixth Absolute Individual Regional Chess Championship had the participation of eight chess players, mostly young. The competition took place at the João Lopes Municipal Library, in the city of Ribeira Brava.
The national championship will be held in its preliminary and final phase between October and December, in yet another organization of the Cape Verdean Chess Federation (FCX).
