Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Directorate for the Environment is organising a stakeholder consultation workshop in Praia today on policies and measures to mitigate the effects of climate change, as part of the Fourth National Communication -1BUR Project.
According to information provided by the government’s communications and image office, the aim of the event is to share and consult with stakeholders (the government, civil society, academia, the private sector and the country’s international development partners) on policies and measures to mitigate climate change in the main socio-economic sectors
“Cabo Verde signed and ratified the Paris Agreement with the approval of Resolution 35/IX/2017, on 12 May. The acceptance of the ratification of the Paris Agreement by the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “UNFCCC” took place on April 22, 2016 and came into force on October 21, 2017”, said the same source.
To this end, Cabo Verde prepared the “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions” (NDCs) which it presented to the UNFCCC as the basis for the Paris Agreement, which establishes the global framework for action to combat climate change for the period 2020-2030
