Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cyclist Nélio Cruz won, this Sunday, first place in the in-line race of the regional senior cycling championship, in São Vicente, with a time of one hour and 50 minutes.
The 21-year-old beat the competition on the Praia da Laginha – São Pedro – Bela Vista – Baía route and, finally, crossed the finish line next to the Lombo Tanque dikes, totaling around 60 kilometers of the race.
It is important to highlight that Nélio had participated, on Saturday, in the time trial, having achieved second place. He now made the journey in one hour, 50 minutes and 20 seconds, a victory that he said was “exceptional”, despite the “strong competition” he encountered along the way.
Nélio Cruz had Klisman David as his main competitor, who on Saturday took first place in the time trial, but on Sunday he finished second by a short time difference, with a time of one hour, 50 minutes and 26 seconds.
The senior class podium was completed by Miklos Mota who achieved a time of one hour, 56 minutes and 53 seconds.
Among the veterans, Nelson Miranda, Naylor Fonseca and Adriano Rodrigues make up the podium of the online race
The online race, with almost the same route, with the exception of going to Baía, was also contested by veteran cyclists and with Nelson Miranda having the best performance in one hour, 27 minutes and 20 seconds, taking revenge, after having placed second in Saturday’s time trial.
The veterans’ second place in the line race was taken by Naylor Fonseca, winner of the time trial, who today completed the course in one hour, 29 minutes and five seconds.
Adriano Rodrigues completed the podium, and maintained his third place in the time trial, having completed the journey today in one hour, 38 minutes and 48 seconds.
As a representative of the Regional Cycling Association of São Vicente, António Jaime, also known as Totone, assured that it was a “good race”, despite the low participation of cyclists, only nine, a reduction that he justified with withdrawals due to work and also because some young people traveled outside the country to continue their studies.
