Yesterday, Sunday, Germany became world basketball champions for the first time, after beating Serbia, by 83-77, in the final of the competition, in a game played in Pasay, Philippines. To reach the final, the Germans eliminated the USA by 113 to 111, which had to settle for a fourth place.

After a balanced first half, with a 47-47 tie at halftime, the Germans took the lead and closed the third period with a 12-point lead and, despite the Serbs’ reaction in the last period, managed to hold the advantage.

Germany, who had the best result in third place in 2002, achieved their first basketball world title, with Serbia, who had been a defeated finalist in 2014, taking the silver medal, while Canada, who won, in the Saturday, the United States finished third and took bronze, in a competition that took place in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.

USA off the podium for the second consecutive world championship
