Académica do Mindelo won third place in the tournament that took place in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão.
Madrugs coach, Jauri Nobre, was “satisfied” with his team’s victory, considering that his players “from an early age” managed to impose their game and ended up winning “quietly” the final of the national sub tournament. -19 male.
For his part, Oderf’s coach, Bruno, said that it was a tiring tournament, as the teams played five games in five days, but he was “proud” of his team’s performance in the competition.
Mindelo Academic in 3rd place
In the game for third place, Académica do Mindelo (São Vicente) beat Juventude (Fogo) by 33 – 25.
The tournament was organized by the Madrugs team, in partnership with Porto Novo City Council, the Institute of Sports and Youth and the National Handball Federation.
Five teams from four islands participated, involving 65 young handball players.
This event, according to the organization, aimed to encourage the holding of national competitions at training levels in this modality and increase the level of competitiveness of young people.
This competition takes place within the scope of the national competitiveness program for participation in the Challenge Trophi 2024 international tournament, which will take place in Cape Verde.
