Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, will participate in the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), which takes place from the 18th to the 26th of this month, at the organization’s headquarters, in New York, United States. On the agenda of the head of Government are, among other topics, Cape Verde’s commitments to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .

The 78th General Assembly of the United Nations is taking place under the motto “Rebuilding trust and rekindling global solidarity: accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda for peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all”.

According to a note from the Government, in his speech, the Prime Minister will take a position on the context of crises and conflicts that the World is facing, highlighting Cape Verde’s commitments regarding the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals ( SDG).

“The prime minister will participate in several activities, such as the SDG 2023 Summit, where he will speak, on September 18th, about strengthening policies and institutions for the SDGs”, indicates the same source, adding that on September 20th, UCS will intervene at the “High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development and the United Nations Summit on Climate Ambition”.

Ulisses Correia e Silva will also be present at the Ocean Rights presentation event and at the Summit of the Alliance of Small Island States, within which he will hold a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and bilateral meetings, including with the Prime Minister of Barbados.

Cape Verde Investment Forum

In New York, it is also worth highlighting the holding, on September 21st, at the Harvard Club, of the 5th edition of the Cape Verde Investment Forum (CVIF) and the strengthening of the partnership between Cape Verde and Microsoft in the Support Program to Digital Development, which aims to “positively impact the Cape Verdean population and companies”, adds the same source.

During his stay in the USA, Ulisses Correia e Silva will also carry out working visits and meetings with Cape Verdean communities in Florida and New Jersey.

The chief executive left for the USA this Friday, 15th, with a stopover in Portugal to preside over the presentation event for the Consular Portal mobile application.
