Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean Guanela Neves, who living in Portugal, says she feels proud for achieving the appreciation of Cabo Verde’s gastronomy through the traditional “donates” that she makes to sell and which she has taken to several countries.
Speaking to Inforpress, Guanela Neves, daughter of Cape Verdean parents and who came to Portugal as a child, but without forgetting her roots, said that she learned to make dontes with her mother and because it is something she knows how to do well, in 2020, in ‘lay-off’ during the pandemic, due to “not being able to stand still”, she suddenly decided that she was going to make and sell it.
“I’m proud to know that I’m succeeding in valorising Cabo Verde’s gastronomy. I’m proud to know that I can pick up my flag and raise it. And I’m proud to know that I can motivate many women like me and many others who started and stopped halfway through,” she said.
Living in Casal de São Brás, in Amadora, where she makes and distributes donuts, upon request, Guanela Neves, who was nicknamed the “Fairy of Donets”, said that through social media she began to receive requests not only from Cape Verdeans in Portugal, but also from people in other countries.
