
Africa-Press – Cape verde. Since October 29th, the municipality of Tarrafal has had another truck to collect urban solid waste, bringing a total of two, which will reinforce sanitation services in this municipality in the interior of Santiago.
Santiago: Tarrafal City Council acquires new garbage collection truck to reinforce sanitation services
The information was given this Thursday to Inforpress, by the councilor for Local Economy and Innovation of the Tarrafal City Council, Osvaldo Chantre, informing that it is equipment with the capacity to transport eight tons of solid waste, acquired under a contract -program signed between the municipality and the Environment Fund.
The aim of investing in another vehicle, according to the mayor, was to extend the garbage collection service to all 22 locations, two of which are urban (the cities of Mangue and Chão Bom) and 20 are rural.
According to the same source, the councilor for Rural Development announced that the municipality led by José dos Reis, “soon”, will purchase another garbage truck with the capacity to transport 15 tons of waste and another 100 containers.
The municipality has three vehicles to collect garbage, two trucks and one with an open box, and has a reinforced team for collecting and treating waste that, at the moment, is deposited in the Santiago landfill.
