Africa-Press – Cape verde. Eugénio Tavares Secondary School (ESET), in Brava, celebrates its 28th anniversary today, under the motto “We Are Culture” and a series of sporting and cultural activities are taking place on the school grounds.

This information was released to the press today by the deputy director for Social Inclusion and Citizenship Promotion Affairs, Gerson Delgado, explaining that the school’s anniversary is celebrated on the same day as the birth of Eugénio Tavares, the patron of this school, and the National Day of Culture and Cape Verdean Communities.
According to the same source, sporting activities have been taking place since the ninth of this month, namely a futsal tournament between classes, and today the grand final between the finalist teams will take place.
“We will also have other sports today, such as athletics and kick-boxing, basketball, among others”, he informed.
Gerson Delgado also highlighted that recreational activities will be carried out by the students, namely singing, dancing and theater, that is, everything that is a representation of Cape Verdean culture.
“We will have students singing and dancing, but we will also have a presentation of the islands, to show the culture of our country, from Santo Antão to Brava”, he said.
The official also informed that a gastronomic fair is taking place where the main restaurants on the island were invited to present typical dishes from the municipality.
In this sense, he said that the dishes will be sold and then all the proceeds will go to help students who are in need of school materials.
To conclude, Delgado also said that next Saturday, the 21st, a gala will be held at 8:00 pm, at the school, with a range of activities, namely, tribute to teachers who have already retired, parades, awards for the best students in the previous academic year, among others.
