Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Santiago Teachers’ Union (Siprofis)), Abraão Borges, was elected executive member of the CPLP-SE Permanent Council, the highest body of this Portuguese-speaking union organization, at the 1st Congress, held from the 19th to the 21st of this month in Abrantes.
Abraão Borges elected member of the board of the CPLP-SE Permanent Council
Under the motto “Unionism and education in Lusofonia”, the Congress elected its team in this Portuguese region for a four-year term.
Speaking to Inforpress, Abraão Borges considered that his election represents “much added value for the country in raising the voices for the rights of Cape Verde teachers among the nations and the community, since the CPLP-SE is now included in the world forum of IE- Internacional Educação, an organization with 30 million members”.
Borges also said it was an opportunity to raise concerns regarding the valorization of pre-school education, which involves the inclusion of all children and improving the profile of monitors with the diploma that regulates it.
It also allows, he said, to continue the call for the union of synergies between teachers and unions for a common struggle in favor of the teaching class without personal or union protagonism, as well as expanding the voices for education and teachers’ rights in Cape Verde.
Personally, he highlighted, it symbolizes his continuation of the fight for human rights, rights to inclusive and quality education for all children, young people and adults, reaffirming that teachers’ rights are also human rights.
“That’s why I don’t give up. The right to pre-school education for all children in Cape Verde and the world, with pre-school being the foundation for building a quality education, are also human rights”, said Abraão Borges, who is also coordinator of the National Network of Education for All Campaign and general secretary of the Cape Verdean Federation of Teachers (Fecap).
