Africa-Press – Cape verde. The proposal to provide the city of São Filipe with a new and modern tourist signage system, called “Smart tour São Filipe”, was presented on Thursday, 26th, to the resident representative of the UNDP, David Matern.

Tourist signage, as a component of heritage interpretation, aims to enable and direct the tourist flow based on a good signage system, information on tourist attractions in order to become a fundamental means of boosting tourism, promoting destination through information on the main historical points and facilitating the mobility of tourists.

The “Smatr Tour São Filipe”, a project by the city of São Filipe, aims to establish a heritage and tourist perspective through means of interpretation and signs of the main historical points and monuments of the city of São Filipe, and in the first phase there will be 20 tourist signs implemented in historical sites and monuments.

The performance format aims to present the creative proposal for signage, creation of text and multimedia content, implementation of the digital platform for reading tourist information as well as monitoring the implementation and assembly of the new tourist signage system.

As specific objectives, the “Smart tour São Filipe” aims to identify the city’s different tourist attractions, contribute to the construction of a tourist signage system for the support and mobility of tourists and visitors and draw up a proposal for mapping the city in order to facilitate the identification and interpretation of existing tourist attractions.

Signage respects road and tourist legislation, visibility, legibility and safety, ensuring the continuity of messages until reaching the intended destination, maintaining coherence in information, as well as guaranteeing easy access to tourist attractions.

The main signage includes the city map and the location of the 20 historical points identified numerically, and the signage of sites, monuments and points of interest will be identified by the name of the site and the reference number on the map so that they can be located where it is located.

Each tourist spot will have a QR Code [Quick Response Code, in Portuguese, a 2D barcode that stores various information, and can be customizable according to its application] that will direct the tourist or visitor to a platform or application for access information about that point of interest, and information about each point will be available via audio in three languages ​​(Portuguese, English and French) as well as in text.
