Africa-Press – Cape verde. Improving working conditions and strengthening the technical capacity of the Porto Novo Fire Department are some of the actions that the city of Porto Novo has planned for 2024 in the field of civil protection.
These actions are included in the municipal investment plan for next year, to which Inforpress had access, a document that foresees a budget of more than three thousand contos for the implementation of these actions, more specifically works at the fire station and training of “soldiers of peace” in different areas.
Porto Novo’s volunteer firefighters have been complaining about the lack of working conditions and the need to provide the corporation with more means of intervention, with emphasis on a vehicle to transport personnel in case of travel to the interior of the municipality in work mission.
The institution, which has been operating for almost two decades, has also been calling for the professionalization of a group of firefighters and the creation of a permanent picket service, which provides assistance to people 24 hours a day.
