Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Education and the teachers’ unions meet again today to conclude negotiations regarding the table for the new salary scale, for which the unions’ proposal is 107,471 escudos, and the salary increase.
This Friday’s meeting takes place after the meeting held on Thursday, 16th, with the Ministers of Education, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Administration, to seek consensus and to avoid the teachers’ strike scheduled for November 22nd and 23rd
The three unions representing the class and the Ministry of Education also met on Wednesday, 15th, with the mediation of the General Directorate of Labor, which ended without the parties reaching an agreement to lift the strike notice.
On Wednesday, the unions and teachers’ supervision reached consensus on some aspects with the supervision regarding the exemption from competition for teachers with more than five years of service and in relation to the payment of the subsidy that must be resolved in the first semester of 2024, with the right to be retroactive to January.
The strike, whose advance notice was signed by Siprofis, the National Teachers’ Union (Sindep) and the Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sindprof) is scheduled for 07:00 on the 22nd of November and ends at 23:00 on the 23rd November 2023.
