Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Municipal Council of Porto Novo, Santo Antão, today asked the mayor of Penafiel to be “ambassador of the festivities of the Saint Padre” of this municipality in Santo Antón in Portugal and “for the places where he passes”.
The request came from the replacement mayor of Porto Novo, Maísa Pinto, during a visit to Porto Novo by a delegation from the Penafiel City Council, led by the mayor António de Sousa, to “get to know a little about the reality” of this municipality.
The mayor of Penafiel is in Cape Verde at the invitation of the Minister of Culture, who challenged him to hold a replica of the Escritaria literary festival in Cabo Verde, which began this week in Mindelo, with a tribute to the writer, Germano Almeida.
The mayor of Porto Novo said that she had “pleasedly” noted the visit of the mayor of Penafiel, hoping that he would also be “another ambassador of morabeza and the festivities of the patron saint of the municipality of Porto Novo in his country and for the places where to spend”.
