Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Social Center of SOS Children’s Villages in São Vicente hosts Warm Childrens Hearts today. The initiative is expected to benefit around 100 children and 25 families with free specialty consultations in areas such as traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and surgery.
At the official opening of the event, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Verde, Xu Jie, highlighted the success of similar actions already carried out in Santiago.
“And in order to continue the action to show the friendship between the people of China and Cape Verde, on the eve of the Chinese year, the Embassy cooperates with the Chinese Medical Mission and the Chinese Institutional Friendship Association to once again pass the our affection and affection for the children of the island of São Vicente”.

In addition to free medical consultations, the SOS Children’s Villages Social Center in São Vicente received a donation consisting of basic necessities, sports, school and hygiene materials.
Dionisio Pereira, national director of SOS Children’s Villages in Cape Verde, highlighted the importance of aid for the work carried out by the center.
“Aid, like this from China, is always welcome. But, taking into account the critical situation that many families and children in Mindelo are going through, particularly in terms of parental responsibility, mental health, nutrition and housing, it is imperative and urgent that we work harder and better so that better solutions can be found. alternatives and better mechanisms for collaborative work between the institutions present in São Vicente”, he said.
Warm Childrens Hearts is an initiative of the First Lady of the People’s Republic of China, carried out in partnership with the Organization of African First Ladies for Development, and consists of free consultations for vulnerable children and their families.
The opening of the event in São Vicente was attended by the first ladies of Cape Verde and the People’s Republic of China.
