Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde airports improved all movement indicators in 2023, compared to the previous year, according to data released today by the Civil Aviation Agency (AAC).

Aircraft movement grew by 12%, totaling 28,421 landings and take-offs, cargo movement grew by 8.4% to 861 tons and mail moved amounted to 387 tons.

The international movement of passengers broke a new record in 2023, with more than two million tickets (arrivals and departures), in line with the announcement made in January by the Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha, in parliament.

Cape Verde is a point of attraction for international tourism and the count of foreign passenger movements is the only one that exceeded pre-pandemic levels, despite all other indicators recorded by the AAC registering positive year-on-year variations, consolidating the economic recovery.

For example, domestic passenger movement in 2023 was around 500 thousand tickets, 11.4% more than in 2022, but below the 821 thousand movements that passengers between islands made in 2019.

The archipelago has four international airports (Boavista, Praia, Sal and São Vicente) and three airfields (Fogo, Maio and São Nicolau).
