Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government, through the Special Project Management Unit (UGPE), has opened an international competition to recruit a consultancy to support the Ministry of Education in reforming the Higher Education financing model.
In the competition’s explanatory note, UGPE explains that the Government Program chose as priorities to transform Cape Verde into a country with more opportunities for young people through inclusive and excellent education, making the Cape Verdean educational network a resilient and reliable system in promotion of applied research.
Likewise, he added, he intends to align national Higher Education with the best international practices in terms of regulation, curriculum and international quality.
To this end, the unit indicated that in recent years the executive has taken “significant measures” with the aim of consolidating the gains achieved in the field of Higher Education, aware of the challenges of the quality of the training offer/employability to respond to the country’s development challenges. , as well as the financial sustainability of the National Higher Education System.
However, the executive admits that the Cape Verdean higher education financing model and the legal regime need to be revised to effectively respond to current challenges.
Therefore, he argues, in the same note published on the Ministry of Education’s website, that “it is necessary to reconsider the Cape Verdean higher education financing system for greater sustainability, in order to allow it to fulfill its irreplaceable role in the transformation of Cape Verdean society ”.
