Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Consumer Price Index (IPC), in January 2024, registered a monthly rate of -0.6%, decreasing by 0.7 pp compared to the previous month.
According to the National Statistics Institute (INE) cited by Inforpress, the IPC presented an accumulated rate of change of -0.6%, 1.2 pp lower than the same month of the previous year, with the year-on-year rate of change of the Total CPI, in January 2024, was 0.0%, decelerating 1.3 pp compared to the previous month.
In the period under analysis, highlights the same source, the IPC registered an average variation of 3.1% over the last twelve months, a value 0.6 pp lower than that recorded in the previous month.
“The underlying inflation indicator (total index excluding energy and unprocessed food) showed a year-on-year variation of -0.1%, 1.6 pp lower than that recorded in December 2023,” the document states.
The Consumer Price Index is an indicator that aims to measure the evolution over time of prices of a set of goods and services considered representative of the consumption structure of the population residing in Cape Verde.
