Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic said this Wednesday that he will raise concerns related to the need for more works and investments to expand the port of Sal Rei, construction of an artisanal fishing pier and a trawler, to the Government.
These were the concerns that José Maria Neves noted, on the second day of his visit to the island of Boa Vista, which falls under the “ Presidency on the Islands” program .
On Wednesday, the head of state visited the port of the city of Sal Rei, the Museum of Aquatic Archeology, the Desplastificar Bubista project and the container shelters.
The PR was also in conversation with officials at the port of the city of Sal Rei, an infrastructure that, according to Neves, could contribute, if expanded, to boost the economy and, particularly, tourism.
“There is a need for more works in the port of Sal Rei, precisely because there are periods when it is more difficult for boats to dock, and there is a lack of protection for the Port to allow it to operate throughout the year”, he stated, referring to to the concerns raised at the port of Sal Rei.
The President of the Republic highlighted that the aforementioned demands heard from the port of Sal Rei are related to engineering and the ability to make more investments for that port structure, but José Maria Neves promised to also take this concern to the Government.
In the afternoon, José Maria Neves held a conversation with artisanal fishermen and fishmongers in which the class explained some concerns and problems they face on the island, which, in the opinion of the head of state, are “enormous challenges in these sectors”, and promised also be a spokesperson for these professionals before the Government to resolve problems.
“Fishermen pose a set of problems, from the need to build a fishing pier and a trawler, support for the acquisition of boats and engines, and investments in search and rescue means”, he said, stressing that it is necessary, together with the authorities, find ways to resolve these problems.
However, José Maria Neves called attention to the class also assuming its responsibilities, justifying that each one has rights and duties, and that each one must be aware that the State cannot give everything, but that they will have to do their own thing. part as citizens, namely in paying taxes, managing their businesses and other obligations.
The President of the Republic also attended the presentation of the lecture “Diversity and importance of sharks for a healthy ocean”, given by doctoral student Jaquelino Varela, at Escola Secundária da Boa Vista.
Regarding this presentation, José Maria Neves highlighted the need to preserve sharks, considering that the island is a type of shark nursery and its importance as a marine resource.
Still on this subject, he highlighted the fact that there are many people interested in carrying out research and promoting Boa Vista as an island that should face the sea and take advantage of all the island’s riches and potential.
José Maria Neves presented the work “No ofício do Bem Comum” and held an open conversation with the population of Sal-Rei.
Tomorrow, the Head of State will visit some ongoing works in Boa Vista, before traveling to the villages of Estância de Baixo, Rabil and Povoação Velha, as well as the Boa Esperança neighborhood, to find out about the living conditions of the families, and will meet with immigrant communities.
Tomorrow, the 22nd, as reported by the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, the last Presidency Day in Boa Vista, the tourism sector, one of the development levers of the island and the country, will be highlighted, with visits to Aristides Pereira Airport, at hotel units and companies that supply hotels.
During his stay in Boa Vista, the Head of State will also grant an audience and visit to Rádio Comunitária Voz d`Bubista, in Sal Rei.
