Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Boa Vista City Council, Cláudio Mendonça, revealed today that he will re-run for his own succession, in the next municipal elections taking place this year, for a second term with the support of PAICV.
According to Inforpress. Cláudio Mendonça made this revelation to the press after leaving a meeting with the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, which served to address issues considered relevant to the island, the prospects for local development and the specific challenges of Boa Vista.
“I’m going to present my candidacy (for the presidency of the Boa Vista Chamber). I am convinced, strong and I count on the support of all the island’s residents. It is already clear that we have a project, clearly one of continuity, we intend to expand it because Boa Vista deserves much, much more”, He explained .
The Boavista mayor highlighted that his team is making its contribution and that it counts on all local partners, and beyond, both in the country and in the diaspora, regardless of the difficulties, namely “injustice and blockade on the part of the Government”, highlighting who, as a Cape Verdean, sees himself as a resilient citizen who never turns his back on difficulties.
“We have the right conviction and are available to receive whatever is necessary, from all sides, so that we can continue to work to clear obstacles along the way ”, he clarified, adding that his candidacy will continue to count on the support of the African Party of the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV, government opposition), as well as in 2020.
