Africa-Press – Cape verde. The works on the second phase of the Justice Campus in Palmarejo, Praia, will be completed within two years with the guarantee of concentration of the Praia District Court and improved conditions for users.
The announcement was made this Friday by the Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, during her first visit to the site, adding that the space houses new rooms for the full installation of Praia District professionals, also ensuring improved service to applicants.
The objective, stated Joana Rosa, is to improve infrastructure conditions with court rooms, spaces for family judges and magistrates, spaces dedicated to the care of minors in conflict with the law, and improve the working conditions of court officials and lawyers.
According to the government official, the works, valued at 500 thousand contos, are already underway and will be completed in mid-2026.
“Another issue that we are working on has to do with notifications and requests, with the entry into operation of the justice information system, which is expected to be soon, as we have already carried out all the necessary assembly of the equipment, the contract that we have already made to develop the platform”, he highlighted, adding that training was carried out in the interior region of Santiago and in Praia.
“We will be able to create all the conditions so that the District of Praia can centralize itself on this campus, we have services that can be located nearby, I mention for example the need to have a conservatory so that users can feel closer to the justice services ” he added, referring to challenges linked to the security and maintenance of the courts.
Regarding the meeting with court officials that he also held today, he assured that the Government is open to listening to operators as they are fundamental for the good interaction and functioning of the judicial system.
“We have the legislative package underway and the package also includes changes to the status of bailiffs. There is nothing better than listening to the officers, sharing ideas that may underlie the need to change the status of officers” he said.
“We need to work together with physical infrastructures, but also with human resources so that they can respond to the demands we have at court level” he explained.
