Africa-Press – Cape verde. The European Union in Cape Verde will promote, on the 24th and 25th of May, in Praia, a fair entitled “Europe Team Projects”, to publicize the projects developed in Cape Verde.

The European Development Fund (EDF) is the main source of cooperation between the EU and Cape Verde. The EDF includes contributions from EU Member States to finance cooperation projects and activities in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, previously identified during the design of national indicative programs and regional indicative programmes.

This information was provided to the press by the European Union ambassador, Carla Grijó, in connection with World Europe Day, which is celebrated annually on May 9th, having highlighted a set of activities to celebrate the date in Cape Verde.

During the month of May, he indicated that the European Union in Cape Verde is seeking to mobilize projects financed by the European Union, namely Procultura, to use this month of greater visibility to show the results of their activities.

The “Projectos Equipa Europa” fair is the highlight of the activities, in addition to various cultural activities that will also take place in São Vicente.

“I would like to highlight that towards the end of the month here in Praia, in Platô, on the 24th and 25th of May we will organize a Team Europe Projects fair. These are those that are financed by the European Union and our member states present here. They will have the opportunity to show the types of projects and programs they develop in Cape Verde”, highlighted Carla Grijó.

This week, according to the ambassador, the focus is on the topic of child sexual abuse with dialogue sessions with partners from society and public institutions.

The European Union and Cape Verde have developed close relations since the archipelago’s independence in 1975. The relationship was strengthened with the Special Partnership in 2007.

The EU and Cape Verde have had a constructive relationship for more than four decades, based on cooperation and political dialogue. Currently, Cape Verde and the EU share common values ​​such as democracy, respect for Human Rights and the Rule of Law, and the promotion of multilateralism. The evolution of relations in these areas led to the creation of the EU-Cape Verde Special Partnership in 2007, a partnership that continues to evolve and be strengthened.

In addition to the annual ministerial meetings, an intense political dialogue has taken place in recent years through high-level meetings between the EU and its Cape Verdean political counterparts.
