Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Governments of Cape Verde and Angola signed today, in Praia, a cooperation protocol so that nationals can benefit from social security discounts made in the other country.
“The protocol we signed today (28/05/24) provides that Cape Verdeans and Angolans can benefit from improved social security” and labor protection in host countries, the minister of Public Administration, Labor and Security told Lusa Social of Angola, Teresa Rodrigues Dias.
” We will make efforts so that that Cape Verdean who has worked all his life in Angola, when he returns to Cape Verde, can receive his pension through agreements between the two social security systems” , the same applying to a Angolan in the archipelago, exemplified the Cape Verdean Minister of Family, Elísio Freire.

The bilateral partnership was celebrated at a time when the nine countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) reached an agreement on a multilateral convention on social security, but which requires ratification to be implemented – only Portugal and Timor-Leste. they did,
Teresa Rodrigues Dias explained that, in the case of Angola, the ratification of the convention “follows a path” that must still undergo approval by the National Assembly.
Cape Verde has also signaled its intention to boost the process.
The agreement signed today was the first point on an agenda for the Angolan minister to visit the archipelago, until Thursday, for contacts with the public administration.
The nine countries that make up the CPLP are Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
