Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Popular Party (PP) organizes today, the 25th, a meeting with its members to reflect on the national political situation, especially this year’s local elections and the 2026 legislative elections.
Speaking to Inforpress, the party president, Amândio Vicente, stressed that the objective of this meeting is to reflect on the exercise of politics in Cape Verde which, as he explained, is a “little revolting”, given that many Cape Verdeans are “dissatisfied ” with this question.
“Article 7 of the Constitution of the Republic says that the fundamental task of the State of Cape Verde is to promote the well-being and quality of life of these people.
And this is not happening, that is, the Government does not have this issue on its agenda”, he stated, adding that there are other principles that make the people unhappy, namely, the issue of health, housing, land mafia , education, employment, among other issues.
Regarding the presentation of the PP’s candidacy for the local elections, Amândio Vicente said that they will debate and analyze whether they will present a candidacy only for the municipal council, only for the municipal assembly or if they will run for these two bodies and in which municipalities.
The same source highlighted that the presentation of this party’s candidacy will only take place after the date for the local elections has been set.
The president of the PP took the opportunity to appeal to all Cape Verdeans interested in the development of Cape Verde to join the list of candidates for the Municipal Assembly of the Popular Party for their localities.
It should be noted that this meeting takes place in the children’s playground in front of the Presidential Palace in Platô, in the city of Praia.
