CCV and Mailamericas Sign Commercial Partnership Agreement to Reduce the Cost and Time of Sending Small Packages

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cabo Verde Post Office (CCV) and MailAmericas signed a commercial agreement this Tuesday that aims to reduce the cost and time of sending small packages from different countries.

The signing of this partnership, held at the Correios headquarters in Praia, is part of the strategic measures of CCV’s ongoing business plan, which aims to establish partnerships with major international logistics operators.

The chairman of the board of directors of Correios de Cabo Verde, Isidoro Gomes, explained that this partnership arose during his participation, in March of this year, in the postal forum of small island states, in Seychelles, where he spoke with the person responsible for this company and from there this business opportunity arose.

Isidoro Gomes stated that, through this partnership, all “online” purchases that interact with the CCV, namely from the United States of America, South America, Europe, Asia, Europe and the United Kingdom, will have a lower cost, around 50% compared to the current cost of sending orders from these countries to Cape Verde.

“These small orders will now have a much shorter delivery time, an average of 30 days to a week, a maximum of 12 days, for these purchases or these small orders to reach their destination, in this case Cape Verde,” he said.

On the other hand, he indicated that this partnership will also create the concept of community, that is, the CCVs will have a kind of “lockers”, postal addresses in the United States of America, Macau, Europe, specifically in the United Kingdom, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and China, where MailAmérica has a large logistics center.

“With this, we will be increasing the presence of the Cape Verdean Post Office in the world”, he said, adding that Cape Verdeans will be able to make their purchases on the AliExpress and Amazon platforms, redirect them to addresses at the MailAmérica logistics center, and the latter will be responsible for placing these orders in Cape Verde, on the islands of São Vicente, Santiago and Sal.

“It is one of the fundamental steps for the proper functioning of the e-commerce system, that is, the heart of e-commerce is logistics, transport. And this company came at a good time, because we are preparing for the launch of our Marketplace and the success of this Marketplace will be behind the great logistics system that will operate in the import and export sense”, highlighted the CEO of the CCV.

In this regard, he stated that Mel América has more than a thousand Marketplaces worldwide and is integrated into the main Marketplaces also worldwide.

And with the launch of this Marketplace, he also highlighted that this institution, the Cape Verdean company, will now have all of MelAmérica’s partner clients within this platform system.

“We will also, on the other hand, encourage and provide all economic operators and entrepreneurs of small Cape Verdean businesses with the opportunity to increase or leverage their turnover through international sales.

He highlighted partnerships and a set of strategies for the 2028 horizon, namely, partnerships with large international logistics networks and investments in new forms and intelligent models for distribution with a focus on locker systems, taking advantage of currently existing technologies and the experiences of large operators in this distribution mobility segment to leverage and create true e-commerce in the country’s archipelago.

In turn, the representative of MailAmerica, Ignacio Maya, said that expanding business of this kind with African countries, especially with the Cape Verdean institution, is a source of great satisfaction.

In this sense, he said that this partnership reduces waiting times and also costs, which leads to competitiveness to overcome some challenges in sending small orders.

MelsAmerica is one of the world’s largest logistics operators for the delivery of small parcels in Latin America. It has been a member of the Universal Postal Union since 2000. This company encourages teamwork, and currently cooperates with more than 60 postal operators, including Correos de Chile, Sepomes de México, Ecuador, among others.

This company operates in more than 60 states and can deliver parcels and letters to any city in Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
