Africa-Press – Cape verde. Tourists of different nationalities continue to arrive “every day” on the island of Santo Antão, despite the low season, a fact highlighted by tourism offices and which leaves operators excited.
Inforpress learned from tourism offices on the island that tourists continue to arrive in Santo Antão every day, even though this region is in low season, a reality that also excites operators, who have been diversifying their tourist products.
Tour operator Odair Gomes told Inforpress that tourist activity remains “very active” in Santo Antão, despite the low season and air transport difficulties, which have affected tourism throughout the country.
This, according to this tour operator and guide, is due to the “diversity” of tourist products in Santo Antão, an island that, in addition to trekking (hiking on trails), also presents other attractions that have contributed to this dynamic even in the low season, which takes place between the months of June to September.
In addition to the diversity of products, there has also been, explained the same source, “a strong commitment” by the Government, operators, guides and visitors themselves in promoting Santo Antão as a tourist destination.
The Porto Novo tourism office has highlighted the fact that Santo Antão is becoming “one of the most sought after destinations for trail and diving lovers”.
The manager of the Green Turtle Diving Center, in Santo Antão, said that the island offers diving lovers “a unique experience”, due to the existence of “quite diverse” marine biodiversity.
The Minister of Tourism recently said, while visiting Santo Antão, that the island is among the regions where tourism has grown the most in recent years, estimating that, within three years, 40 percent (%) of tourists arriving in Cabo Green visit also known as the island of the mountains.
