Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG) has warned of continued strong winds from the East, with speeds exceeding 45 km/h and gusts, which will mainly affect the islands of São Nicolau, São Vicente and Santo Antão in the coming hours.

According to INMG, these winds are expected to continue throughout the night and into the early morning, while a Tropical Wave, associated with a center of Low Atmospheric Pressure, continues to affect the weather throughout the archipelago of Cape Verde.

The center of the Tropical Wave was located this morning in the region between Fogo and Brava, moving to the West-Northwest. Since yesterday, heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds have been recorded on several islands in the archipelago, and forecasts indicate that this adverse weather scenario will continue.

In addition to the strong winds, rain of varying intensity is also expected to continue, often in the form of showers, accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the archipelago.

The seas remain rough, with waves forecast from the east/northeast that could reach between 3 and 5.5 metres in height, particularly affecting the Barlavento islands. This worsening is expected for the afternoon and evening today, with a slight improvement expected for early morning.

INMG guarantees that it will continue to closely monitor the evolution of this weather system, updating and disseminating information as the situation evolves.
