Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, announced on Wednesday that the Government will take “soon” to Parliament the bill to the creation of the District Court of São Miguel, a population long-standing demand and the City Hall itself.
“(…) We will bring to Parliament a bill aimed at the creation of the District Court of São Miguel”, announced the Minister, who recalled the “goodwill and insistence of the City Hall of São Miguel” for the installation of this judicial body.
The holder of the Justice department made this announcement during her speech at the inauguration of the Social Reintegration and Alternative Penalties Office to serve the entire North Santiago Region, installed in the District Court of Santa Cruz, which was presided over by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva.
“São Miguel needs and has a number of population who want and demand the installation of the District Court”, said de Mayor, recalling that the large number of cases in the Court of Tarrafal is from São Miguel, whose population currently travels more than 20 kilometers to deal with judicial matters.
