Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Communities, Jorge Santos, said in statements to Inforpress that the elimination of “bill of lading” procedures in the customs order is currently being tested at Customs and, soon, a broader communication will be made.

“This measure is being tested at this time. And, even, we already have a new model for the management of small orders in Customs, which are the orders sent by our communities to family members … social orders,” he said.

Jorge Santos, who was speaking on the sidelines of a virtual conference with representatives from the Cabo Verdean communities in Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe and Senegal, also said that the 2022 State Budget established a total exemption for customs clearance of these small orders.

“The Cabo Verdean who is abroad can send up to four orders per year, orders up to 150 kilos, with full exemption from Customs and this reform is part of the model we call end-to-end, that is, the Cabo Verdean at its origin delivers the order to a shipping company and then is also received by another shipping company in Cabo Verde”, he explained.
