Africa-Press – Cape verde. The clinical director of the Santa Rita Vieira Hospital confirmed today that most of the victims of the accident that occurred in Chã de Tanque (Santa Catarina) have already been discharged, and the one who was in a reserved condition is stable.
According to doctor Janaína Vicente, of the 72 patients, nine were sent on Friday to the Agostinho Neto University Hospital (HUAN), in Praia, one of them in a reserved condition, who is now in a stable condition.
The same source also reported that another five were assessed by an orthopedist, two for Computerized Tomography (CT) scans and another for maxillofacial assessment.
In the meantime, 61 accident victims have already been discharged, with follow-up instructions during the first 24/48 hours, while another two patients are still hospitalized at the HSRV, and should be transferred to the HUAN for CT scans and another for orthotrauma assessment.
“But everyone is stable. Those who have already been discharged should continue to rest and remain under observation,” concluded the doctor.
The traffic accident that occurred this Friday, involving two school buses, owned by the Municipality of Santa Catarina and the School Delegation, were transporting primary and secondary school students from Rincão to the City of Assomada. The second bus collided with the first, which was stationary, causing both vehicles to fall down the embankment.
In total, 72 people were injured, including 69 students, one teacher and two drivers, who were first taken to the Santa Rita Vieira Regional Hospital and the Health Department in the centre of Assomada, in the same municipality.
