Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean karateka Anilton Varela, from the “En Tout K. Villemomble” school, led by sensei Filinto Moniz, was crowned French champion in “krava magá”, free combat, today during the competition held on Saturday, the 5th, and this Sunday, in the city of Strasbourg.
According to information gathered by Inforpress, Anilton Varela, the new French champion in the +89 kilogram category, began practicing the sport with sensei Narciso Mascarenhas, and later joined sensei Filinto Moniz’s team in this European country.
With this achievement, Anilton Varela became French champion in free combat, “a somewhat moderate type of MMA”.
In total, the school “En Tout K. Villemomble”, run by Krava Maga teacher Filinto Moniz, located in the village of Villemomble, on the outskirts of Paris, won 16 medals in the French championship, including three gold medals, out of a field of 12 students.
