Africa-Press – Cape verde. The District Court of São Nicolau ordered the preventive detention of a 46-year-old man arrested in the town of Preguiça, in the municipality of Ribeira Brava, for possession of narcotic substances and firearms. The 29-year-old woman, also arrested in the same operation, was subject to monthly appearances and was prevented from leaving the island and the country.
According to the National Police today, the arrests took place on June 12, during the execution of a search and seizure warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a considerable quantity of illegal products, including 120 bars of hashish in the shape of soap, in addition to additional portions of the same drug; several quantities of a white substance presumably cocaine; a shotgun, a revolver-type pistol and several rounds of ammunition.
Also seized were two precision scales and materials for packaging drugs; plant products suspected of being “padjinha”; knives, razors and objects with traces of drugs and a total of 221,850 escudos in cash and several bank slips with high values.
