Africa-Press – Cape verde. The plot of land will be an annex to the current Red Cross headquarters in the Santa Filomena neighborhood and is intended to allow the Red Cross to expand its humanitarian response capacity on the islands of Fogo and Brava.
The proposal, prepared by the Department of Infrastructure, Urbanism and Transport, includes the transfer of a plot of land measuring 147.22 square meters, located in the Santa Filomena neighborhood, where there are currently deactivated structures, such as the bilge and the old fountain.
The area will be renovated to gain new life with the implementation of essential services for the population.
According to the project presented by CVCV, the new center will include spaces for first aid, training in humanitarian assistance and disaster response, social support for vulnerable groups, as well as public health awareness actions and emergency coordination.
In exchange for the transfer of the land, the Red Cross undertakes to provide the city government with a unit on the ground floor of the new building that will be used to house the Santa Filomena Municipality or other public services, contributing to administrative decentralization and strengthening the city’s presence in local communities.
The proposal also provides for legal safeguards and if CVCV does not execute the project within the agreed deadlines and conditions, the land will automatically revert to the possession of the city hall.
The decision to grant the land, according to the document to which Inforpress had access, will be considered at the 3rd Session of the City Council, scheduled for June 6th and 7th, and constitutes a significant step towards improving social and humanitarian infrastructure in the municipality, combining urban development with solidarity.
