Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Union of Cape Verdean Students of Lisbon (UECL), in Portugal, organizes this Saturday, 12th, a cultural celebration in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Cape Verde’s independence, celebrated on July 5th.
The event, organized in partnership with the Sabores da Vida restaurant and the Oeiras City Council, will take place at the Carlos Queiroz Sports Park, in Carnaxide, Lisbon.
The festival, according to the organizers, promises to be a “memorable gathering,” packed with activities that highlight Cape Verde’s rich and diverse culture.
Activities begin at 11 a.m., with a wide-ranging program that includes live traditional music, typical cuisine, art and craft exhibitions, as well as interactive activities such as traditional games, according to a statement from the organizers.
The public will have the opportunity to hear infectious rhythms such as funaná, morna, coladeira, and kizomba, and taste authentic delicacies such as cachupa and corn pastel, in this free event, encouraging inclusion and participation of the entire community.
In the note, the organization says that the “celebrating Cape Verde” festival aims not only to provide a space for celebration and sharing, but also to strengthen ties between the Cape Verdean community and Portuguese friends, and all residents of Lisbon, promoting respect and admiration for Cape Verdean culture.
