Africa-Press – Cape verde. From July 21st to 25th, Cape Verde will host the second in-person Technical Mission to promote Sustainable Urbanization, within the framework of South-South Cooperation, involving Cape Verdean institutions, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), and UN-Habitat Brazil.
According to a note sent to Inforpress, this mission is part of the South-South Cooperation Program and its main objective is to strengthen the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the New Urban Agenda in countries of the Global South.
The selection of Cape Verde as a priority country stems from the international recognition of good practices and results achieved in previous collaborations with Brazil.
The mission will include the participation of experts and representatives from Brazilian institutions, such as the João Pinheiro Foundation, Caixa Económica Federal, and the Brazilian Ministry of Cities, as well as representatives from ABC and UN-Habitat.
On the Cape Verdean side, the Directorate General of Housing, the National Institute for Territorial Management (INGT), the Real Estate, Land and Habitat (IFH), the Directorate General of Planning, Budget and Management, the municipal councils of Santiago Island, as well as representatives of the Portuguese Association of Architects, the Portuguese Association of Engineers, and UN-Habitat Cape Verde will be involved.
During the work week, technical sessions, meetings, field visits, and opportunities to share experiences will be held.
According to the same source, the agenda includes topics such as the development of Municipal Housing Plans (PLAMUH), technical assistance for self-construction, and the promotion of condominium living, topics in which Brazil “stands out as an international benchmark.”
The official opening session of the mission is scheduled for July 21st, starting at 10:45 am, at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Territorial Planning and Housing (MIOTH).
